An academic paper published last year (2024) highlighted the negative impacts of chronic stress on both the physical and mental heath of people*
It was one of the latest of a growing number of similar findings relating chronic, unchecked stress & anxiety resulting in challenging health outcomes.
We see the Health & Safety Executive (HSE)** reporting that of the 1.7 million workers that reported, 50% related ill health to stress, depression or anxiety.
The 2020 UK Workplace Stress Survey by Perkbox reported that 79% of British adults in employment commonly experience work related stress. The report also showed that 55% experience work stress, with almost half losing sleep.
Of course, you may perceive that a certain level of stress is acceptable, even motivating and healthy … but when it increases to unmanageable levels it becomes an issue that can lead to decreased performance and possible further health issues.
With this framing as a backdrop, it is inspiring to understand that mindfulness and meditation have been shown to be a great resource to develop to reduce stress & anxiety.
In the Courses I teach we regularly see huge and significant reductions in stress & anxiety reported by participants.
We have looked to curate a focused workshop, distilling the key aspects of understanding, managing and then reducing stress & anxiety, from the eight week "mindfulness and meditation for health & wellbeing" course
The workshop is suitable for small groups (up to 15 participants) and can be delivered on site (an online option will be available later in the year).
